Tulum

The Saturday after Thanksgiving it was twenty degrees in Boston, but after four hours in the air (flight to Cancun) and 90 minutes in a van (drive to Tulum), we had the sound of the Caribbean in our ears and powder-like sand under our feet. This is how we spent the week: wake to the sound of waves, walk to breakfast either down the beach or down the road, back to our beach bungalow, read, nap, swim, order lunch to be brought to the beach-bed or just have some snacks, read, lounge, walk to dinner, read, maybe a movie on the iPad, sleep - repeat. Didn't think about work, didn't think about much, had a great vacation.

We had the lower half of this casita, room was fairly simple but the view was spectacular...

most hotel zones are crowded and busy, but other than Saturdays when a lot of guests to the area arrive and depart, this is what the road out front looked like.
two minutes down the beach, where we ate most of our meals
across the street where we ate breakfast a couple of times
Our one adventure away from the Hotel Zone into the town of Tulum!
Other than to walk down the road to restaurants, there was really no reason
to leave our lovely beachfront.
