New York Cafe

In the late 1800s, the New York Life Insurance Company constructed a building in Budapest to serve as their local offices. That building is now a hotel and the cafe therein has been described as "the most beautiful cafe in the world." I don't know who said that, but whoever it was was clearly a fan of the Liberace style of design. For all its baroque-over-the-topness, I had a lovely brunch there.

After brunch, I walked through the neighborhood to Bomo Art, a lovely little shop carrying paper, cards, notebooks, etc., all designed by local artists and manufactured in Hungary.
